It’s an open letter written by Upendra Singh to Mansoor (pithoo) played by Sushant Singh Rajput in Kedarnath (2018). It’s a bit different from hindi short story due to style of writing.

कैसे हो ये नहीं पूछूँगा। जन्नत में थे जन्नत में हो, अब तुमसे अच्छा भला किसका नसीब! कई दिनों से तुमसे कुछ कहना था और कहने के लिए शब्द सँजो रहा था। आज जब 101वीं बार तुम्हें माताजी को घाटी में दर्शन कराते देख रहा था और तुम इस बार भी अपने मुख पर वही चमकती मुस्कान लिए घूमे, मुझसे रुका न गया। तुम हो नहीं हो, क्या थे क्या नहीं, अरे थे या भी नहीं इन बातों से फ़र्क नहीं पड़ता। 2 घण्टे की कहानी में तुम मेरे लिए प्रेरणा के स्त्रोत बन गए, यह महत्वपूर्ण है।
तुम्हें एक बार में नहीं समझा जा सकता यह बात तो पक्की है। कई दफ़ा देखने के बात बाद मैं समझ पाया की आखिर क्या वजह थी कि तुमने आखिरी समय में जान क्यों दी। या फिर यूँ कहूँ तो बेहतर होगा कि तुम घाटी में अमर क्यों हुए।
असल में तुम कोई पिट्ठू नहीं हो, तुम घाटी हो! वो घाटी जो सदियों से लोगों का बोझ उठा रही है, उन्हें महादेव के दर्शन करा रही है। तुमने भी तो वही किया। अब भला अपनी आत्मा से शरीर लेकर कोई कैसे बाहर निकले। लाज़मी था तुम्हारा शरीर और आत्मा दोनों एक साथ वहीं दफ़्न हो।
लोग अक्सर बड़ा बनने की बात कहते हैं, तुमने भी तो सुना होगा ‘वृक्ष की तरह बड़े बनो, दूसरों को फल और छाया दो’। लेकिन तुमने सिखाया असली बड़प्पन सिर्फ़ बड़ा होना नहीं, छोटा रहकर बड़ा काम करने से पीछे न हटने का साहस है। अपनी दुर्बलताओं और क्षमताओं को जानते हुए तुमने जो कुछ भी किया सब दर्शाता है कि तुम आम नहीं हो। क्या खूब इश्क़ किया तुमने, भई जान की फ़िक्र भी एक चीज़ होती है! जो इश्क़ तुम्हारे लिए जान से बढ़कर था उससे एक इन्च दूर तुमने जान दे दी, वो भी किसी और इँसान के लिए। शायद इसलिए क्योंकि तुम्हें यकीन था कि मुक्कू को घाटी से प्यार है और तुम घाटी हो।
मैं कभी तुम जैसा तो नहीं बन सकूँगा पर हाँ जब कभी उन वादियों में जाऊँगा तुम्हें महसूस करने की कोशिश ज़रूर करूँगा।

I won’t ask how. Were in paradise, you are in paradise, now who has better luck than you! Had to say something to you for many days and was trying to find words to say. Today, for the 101st time, when I was seeing you making Mataji darshan in the valley and this time also you walked around with the same glowing smile on your face, I could not stop. You are not, what were or were not, were you or were not, these things do not matter. You have become a source of inspiration for me in the story of 2 hours, this is important.
You cannot be understood at once, that is for sure. After seeing it many times, I understood what was the reason why you gave your life at the last moment. Or better to say, why did you become immortal in the valley.
Actually you are not a pithu, you are a valley! The valley which has been carrying the burden of the people for centuries is giving them darshan of Mahadev. You did the same thing. Now how can someone come out of his soul by taking his body? It was imperative that both your body and soul be buried there together.
People often talk about becoming big, you must have also heard ‘be big like a tree, give fruit and shade to others’. But you taught that real nobility is not just being big, but being small and having the courage not to hold back from doing great things.
Knowing your weaknesses and capabilities, everything you did shows that you are not ordinary. Loved you so much, brother, there is also one thing about the concern of life! You gave your life an inch away from the love which was more than life for you, that too for some other human being. Maybe because you were convinced that Mukku loves the valley and you are the valley.
I will never be able to be like you, but yes, whenever I go to those valleys, I will definitely try to feel you.
